Aquarius New Moon Tarot: Burst With Compassion

Updated: Feb 22

With Lunar Cycle Tarot, we are tending the energy of the moment as a foundation for the lunar cycle ahead.

This reading was pulled at the exact time of the New Moon in Aquarius, February 17 at 7:01 AM EST in Washington, DC, and is an energetic blueprint for the entire lunar cycle: insights to guide action and generate growth.

I am here, SUNSOAKED is here, to support you in attuning to you. Infinitely - Briget.

THE ASTROLOGICAL CONTEXT

On February 17 at 7:01 AM EST, we are present for the Aquarius New Moon, an Annular Solar Eclipse (a ring-shaped solar eclipse), and we enter into the Eclipse Portal that will span the next six (6) months…and if that doesn't feel like enough...we have crossed another significant energetic threshold.

We’ve transmuted the final moments of the Wood Snake, entering the Fire Horse. Specifically, Yang Fire indicated by the 6 in 2026, furthering transformation with speed, intensity, breakthroughs, friction, and desire powered by obsession. On the extreme side, think Marty Supreme. The elemental power ahead occurs every 60 years (rather than the usual 12) in the Chinese Zodiac.

Me? I’m going to move some money around, like a small amount into a high-yield account or onto my altar…I have not decided. But I’m going to do it just to say “I’m here when you need me” – to me. It can be $5 and so meaningful… money is energy, and you have the right to move yours with trust in yourself.

Also, Mercury sits in Pisces and the First House: we’re given cosmic permission to release all practical concerns for a time, inviting us to speak our desires and refined longing as visionaries.

Our inner awareness and our outer world merge through visualization, dreams, and callings. It is not wise to live constantly from this state; however, this is a powerful window to set aside terrestrial perceptions and limitations, call in our true desires, and claim them.

Write it all down. Speak it to your sacred place…honestly speak it to your headboard, your mattress, your places/spaces of rest and wonder.

Speak your refined visionary marvels to the terrestrial objects, spaces, and places that hold you.

THE CRYSTALS

Crystals: Beautiful earthy totems connecting us to ancestral stories, overlapping human experiences, and the passage of time. We carry them with us as partners on our transformational, autonomous journeys.

Crystal: Guiding words.

  • Black Tourmaline: With bravery, I accept myself and others without judgment. Neutral clarity liberates me.

  • Natural Citrine: Attracting abundance, discipline, and well-being is easeful for me.

  • Rose Quartz: I accept my heart’s desires without condition.

TO THE TAROT

The Tarot: A mutualistic, benevolent platform for reflection, featuring the spherical human story in five parts. The Major Arcana, or the Hero’s Journey in the literary sense, from inspiration to revolution or The Fool to The World, and the four Minor Arcana. Cups. Wands. Swords. And Pentacles.

The deck in hand, I shuffle and wonder

How might those of us in the SUNSOAKED Community harness our power by radically honoring our heart's desires without condition, bravely claiming our liberation through clarity, Self-honesty, and release of condemnation and external conditioning?

THE SPREAD

Two cards side by side, uncovering the duality of a vein or nerve across the entire system, without a hierarchy or timeline, we explore how these energies converge in this moment and on us in it.

THE PULL

  • Eight (8) of Wands, Reversed

  • The Fool

THE MESSAGE: AQUARIUS NEW MOON 2026

To engage in collective liberation, we must first free our internal worlds from the pattern-based conditions, beliefs, and foundations we inherited. And that can feel like bursting open. Do it anyway. Burst with compassion.

THE TAROT READING: AQUARIUS NEW MOON 2026

The overall read.

Resistance to the surge of inspired change, this is the grind of life. The heat of it! I’m breathing in incredible compassion for us. Join me, in on down to your pelvis and out till there is nothing left.

In other words, friction reformed into acceptance, and insight transmuted into acts of self-liberation through self-trust creates a pathway to true freedom. Liberation is something we give ourselves first; it emerges from within, even if instigated (sometimes ferociously) from an event or encounter outside of ourselves.

Liberation from the patriarchy, from extraction politics and economies, from bigotry in all forms and functions: liberated into exchange, discovery, play, and love—not adultered by greed.

To engage in collective liberation, we must first free our internal worlds from the conditions, beliefs, and foundations we inherited, and that can feel like bursting open. Do it anyway. Burst with compassion.

Into the specifics of the cards at hand.

On one side, we have resistance to the awakening of the Eight of Wands with its reversal. On the other, The Fool, the plunge, enriched by our self-esteem, the embodiment of trusting ourselves to be in life so completely that our flow appears to others as careless, carefree, or naive.

Eights are our pattern and system disruptors specific to the elemental space of the minor arcana. And in this case, Wands, guided by Fire. Quite appropriate in a “this is why tarot delights me” kind of way.

The Eight of Wands signals a sudden, system-shifting strike. Something that emerges within us when the final straw is added to an ongoing conflict or trial, we encounter something new/something that appears to be brand new, or a sudden internal shift lands in our nervous system. Upright or reversed, this archetype gets in your face with the energy of a kind and direct friend who you also want to yell at from time to time, but she is fine with it because she can take the blow back. She's a friend with backbone, she's say it to your face.

It goes like this:

Her, The Eight of Wands: Go bro!  Step, even slightly, outside of the pattern this instant or relive, toil, grind within distress of your own making, aware that you’re living in denial of self-trust.
Us: Fuuuuuuckkk you! I hate this!!
Her, The Eight of Wands: Yes, honey! Let it out.

Insight integration isn’t always tranquil; it is often flavored with sacred rage.

Evolving and growing in our capacity to thrive and survive within the full spectrum of our emotions and experiences? This is the epitome of strength, and strength is what this year is all about.

The Fool. Now, this is where we drastically adjust action in this reading, throwing the doors open for generative growth.

The Fool is the plunge. We got into its purpose early on, with a kind of bold clarity… I’ll just restate and go into some theory.

Once we embody the shift calling us, we must run, walk, wander, skip, make our way, in any way to the precipice of comfort and leap from the edge. Engage your goodness threshold, look at the other shoe, and say, “I’ve got you,” and take one more step.

Imbue every action and next small step with our self-esteem, trusting ourselves in life so completely that our flow may appear to others as careless, carefree, lucky, and cosmicly blest.

I’ll break it down like this: Self-liberation through self-trust is the pathway to true freedom.

Now, and I keep getting asked for more of this, some tarot card theory. If you guys don’t read it and tell me how it lands with you, I will feel sad for a day or two. But I will get over it because I do this for myself first of all.

So often mistakenly, foolishly (eye roll), The Fool is referred to as living from a lack of knowledge or naiveté, but that doesn’t align with the numerical zero. So let’s call in some history.

Numbers originate from the Southwest Asian and North African (SWANA) Region, from The Western Perspective, The Arab World. Origin scholars uncovered mathematics as a reflection of divine order, both within their faith as Muslims and of the material and terrestrial plane.

They named zero (sifri), translating loosely as ‘void’, and its form to that of uninterrupted connection, and flow Even the Cosmic Egg, which may be traced back to early observations of planetary orbital pathways reflected in the architecture of ruins, glyphs, and writings across the ages, across the globe, throughout civilizations.

And this is why I refer to The Fool as Inspiration. I recognized my take as a much-needed perspective in the tarot space, which is why I’m creating a deck and writing a book… you’re hearing it here first.
